The economy of Dominica is based on agriculture. More than 60 percent of the people work on farms, and most of the rest are employed in processing agricultural products. Bananas are the country's chief product and export. Other products and exports include coconuts and coconut by-products. Manufacturing, mining, retail trade, and tourism are minor economic activities in Dominica.
